Binary Bracelets

October 2018, March and April 2019

During these months, we held CoderChicks booths at the parent nights of local elementary and middle schools. While we discussed CoderChicks programs with the parents, we had an exciting, hands-on activity for the children called "Binary Bracelets." Here, we had the girls find the binary value of their initials, and assign one bead color to 0; another to 1. They strung on beads according to the number for their initials.

This hands-on activity was an engaging way for the girls to get introduced to the world of programming. Several of them then signed up for our programs at their schools and local libraries.
